The Dreams We Dream

The dreams we dream
Sometimes spark a drive
Such as in a light column beam
Egging us on to take a dive

Liftoff the countdown ends
We arrive at a new doorstep
A tree branch limb extends
Hope spurs from what we've kept

Exploring the new waterway
All caution to the waves
The wind calls us to play
To spelunking in the caves

The cost of opportunity
Is cast away by the wayside
All items are full of possibility
No rules need to abide

Delving deeper into the pools
A phantasmagorical world emerges
Monsters, angels, and even fools
An ethereal picture converges

A far reaching sound pings
Closer to the tower I climb
The audible sound now sings
An awe heavenly sublime

A message is scrawled
Upon a weather-worn scroll
The words etched and crawled
Beckoning my innermost soul

At this most basic elemental altar
Set aside in the darkest hour
A message is meant to halt the falter
Not to be stagnant and cower

It is time indeed
A thunderous clap bellows
The lighting strikes a feed
Zapping the lackluster fellow

Reinvigorated away from the darkness
Forthright in the beauty of this design
Breaking through incorrigible starkness
Drinking of the celebratory wine

The dreams we dream
Sets a positive emotion
The righteous path that we deem
Congruous for zealous devotion.

Can You Be a Champion?

I am driven
Motivated to be the best
A champion
Fighting to the last
Hard-charging
Like a beast
I shall not be the least

Nothing shall stop me
My mind knows the plans
The heart drives the train
Blasting through roadblocks
Watch out
I might just catch you
In a sudden surprise.

The Fight Goes!

In need of a pick-me-up
Focused on the fight
Thinking in the dark
Of this downtrodden night

A path to fulfillment
The need to succeed
Time to ramp it up
Til my heart bleeds

Here I go
Passion it flows
The moment appears
The fight goes!

Fire Away

Others may try to impose on what should be normal for you, but the reality is only you and your creator know what is best for you. Follow your heart and have tough skin. Let your detractors fire away and watch their criticisms deflect off you. In the end you will be satisfied because you led the life that you envisioned for yourself.

This also reminded me of an earlier post of mine called Forge Forward. Check it out!

US Soccer Pride

What a summer?!

There were many great moments in the world cup this year from defeat of the defending world champions Italy to the surprise German youth movement. Obviously, what is etched in my mind is the Landon Donovan winning goal shot in extra time against Algeria. That certainly will stay with me forever.

Slowly but sure, soccer or what the world calls football is growing in the US. Let's hope for a brighter future in 2014. But for now, we take a pause to reflect on our national unity and the motto that drove the 2010 US Men's National Soccer Team. Please enjoy!

I'll Be In The Sky

In my opinion, this is where hip hop music needs to go:

One day...

...we will conquer our fears, downfalls and struggles. Until then, we shall strive 110% to reach that goal. Though the night brings pain and wickedness, the sun shall undoubtedly rise and we shall rise with it.

Forever Young

Wouldn't you want to be forever young? I'm sure I would, but alas the world does not work that way. A fruitful alternative therefore would be to have a "young" state of mind. Why? It will maintain our creativity and innovation.

In the Music Mood

Hey everybody! I was "chillaxing" as I like to call it and searched the internet for cool music. As some of you know, I am a music aficionado in the area of Hip Hop/R & B. I venture out from time to time in other genres like alternative rock and pop. One of my favorite groups is OneRepublic and they recently released a new single which is catchy. Please do enjoy:

Avatar Movie Trailer

I recently saw a movie trailer for Avator and was blown away by the digital environment. The actors are for the most part partaking in the movie as voice-overs. This is definitely the most realistic CG (computer generated) graphics of any movie so far and it is mind-blowing. I cannot believe the movie took 14 years from concept to final production, but I must realize this is James Cameron's idea. This is the same director of Titanic and Terminator. Now for your viewing pleasure:

An Encore from Linkin Park and Jay Z

Hey guys, sorry for being so busy. I mean to visit your sites and post new writings, but I'm just busy working on stuff that pays the bills, my job. In real life, I'm a freelance writer with an emphasis on medical, health and science. A lot of work came down the pipeline and I'm focused on that work. Anyway, to appease my followers and yes I mean you guys, I am posting a video of my favorite band. Thank you for reading and I appreciate all your comments. Hopefully I'll come back soon. =) Until then, please do enjoy!

Education and Innovation

What is education? What function does it play?

If you ask most people, education is the training one needs to foster the growth of the mind and nourishes us toward career goals. That to me is a short-sighted goal. Indeed, our minds needs growth and education shall help us reach our careers, but is that all? I would like to suggest that it should also provide us with the setting to be creative, to socialize and to learn morality.

Why?

If you look at the structure of our school system, one will soon realize that it is hierarchical in order. Math and science is king. Do not get me wrong, it is quite important for us to have math and science because it is the crux of our technological revolution, but it does not necessarily provide for creativity.

What then is to nurture our creativity?

It is the arts. The arts help us opens up the mind to new adventures and makes us think out of the box. This ability to visualize newer ideas and thoughts will help society grow in better places and foster the vitalization of society.

What shall we do?

We must change the social structure of school. I am not implying we de-emphasize math and science because it is still necessary, but we should bring on par the importance of the arts. I might even dare say it is the arts that will save our humanity and fix the problems we currently face. Innovation comes from minds that can think differently and creatively. The arts will nourish such a prospect.

Please do check out this video below on schools and creativity:

Art and Poetry

What is art?
What is poetry?

Both are one and the same. An expression of personality and of beauty as the artisan sees it. It can take many forms, not only in writing. It conjures emotions and vivid images that last with you forever. With that said, please do enjoy the video below of art in the form of music:

Presidential Bloopers

I would like to wish President Barack Obama well or rather more than that as he enters into the foray of running the country. A change is in order and we as the people as a whole should do our part to work hard to help the country out as well. However, this is not the goal of today's post. I am quite sure that people around the world including our nation saw the swearing in of the new president with the oath that was "fumbled." Rest assured we have the 20th amendment of the Constitution to overcome these verbal gaffes. We must remember that the president too is also human like us and mistakes may be made from time to time, especially with all those speaking engagements. In honor of the flubbed presidential oath, I would like to post some youtube videos of past follies in presidential politics. Please do enjoy:

Forge Forward

Forge forward
The plans constructed
Deep in the mind
Put into action
Do what is right
Fight for the inner self
Beliefs formed fiercely
In the barren and solitude
Of darkened skies
And cloudy nights
Fear not the competition
The denials of your creativity
Show up to the ring
But not only that
Confidently deliver
The upsetting knockout

Forge forward
Always and forever
Others will deny
Your skills and aptitude
Theirs' is a blind distrust
Be not afraid
The path you seek
Through sharpened skills
And a hard work ethic
Goals will be attained
Atop the mountain
You shall valiantly stand

Forge forward.

Thought of the Night

"Failure is never an option."

I saw this phrase on the shirt by Busta Rhymes in his new music video, We Made It, featuring Linkin Park which hit me profoundly. If you truly and sincerely believe in what you stand for, what you want to do and where you are going, then go fully confidently in that direction. Never give up, never quit. Even though others degrade and dismiss your aspirations, your belief in it will be your guide. Though times look bleak, hold tightly to your goals. Its not an option to quit otherwise all you are is a hypocrite, a liar to yourself. I am a trailblazer cutting a path to the unknown. Where this path leads, I do not necessarily know, but within me burns a yearning indicating that my chosen path will lead me to the promised land.
